Little Denmark's Delightful Daphne
Daphne’s Story
By Jera Ruiz
Chapter 1
The dream
Hi, I’m a Jera and I have a Danish Swedish Farmdog named Daphne. Well I might as well get to the point and tell my story. One day I woke up and my mom told me she had a dream, a dream about a dog. She said she might want to get a dog and I was up for the idea. It sounded like so much fun and so perfect. But could my mom really be serious about getting a dog? So my Mom searched on the internet for a few months looking for the prefect breed. I helped her look, I guess she was serious which was good because now I would have someone to play with and listen to my feelings since I’m an only child. There were many different breeds, the Huskies, the Pomeranians, the Labs, the German Sheppard and the mixed breeds. She found something on Danish Swedish Farmdogs and found out that there was a breeder in our area, Helene. She e-mailed Helene and we were invited up to her house for a visit. What I remember most about that first visit was playing with Maddy and Kika. After a nice long play time I remember Kika snuggling on the couch with me to watch TV.
Then we decided that the very next time puppies were available we would get one. We waited two long years before Daphne was born.
Chapter 2
Puppies!!!
Itis finally time! The puppies were born on August 21st 2008. We get to go see them and even though they slept all the time they were the cutest things in the world. Then lucky us, they woke up and they were clumsy and curious. But alas we had to go and the puppies went back into their crate to go to sleep, I could only wish for the next time to see them. In the car on the way home I wondered which one would be ours. We went to the website a lot to see the new pictures of the puppies. The second visit they were more playful and just bundles of fun. I loved lying down and letting them climb all over me and lick me. We still didn’t know which puppy we were going to get. I wanted to know which one we were going to get because I wanted to love it so when it was older it would trust me more. I wanted to stay with the puppies forever. Soon after, Helene e-mailed us to tell us which puppy would be ours.
Chapter3
New puppy in the house.
Bringing Daphne home was one of the most exciting days in my life. We visited all the puppies and then we took Daphne home. Helene gave us a toy that smelled like home so Daphne would be happy. She whined in the car, she missed her brothers and sisters but she would soon learn that she would have a wonderful life with us. As soon as we got home we started training her. We wanted her to be a good dog. We trained her not to poop on the floor, not to mess with the cats, and to fetch a toy.
Chapter 4
Lifewith Daphne
Life with Daphne is a great life. I’ve taught my dog many tricks, like sit, jump, lie down, give paw and to keep a balloon up in the air. Daphne goes everywhere with us and is very good in hotels. Daphne has taught me patience and responsibility. She is a very good dog. I’m happy that not very many days have gone by because I’m looking forward to all the time I will have to love her. Daphne is going to be one year old on August 21st and we are going to do something special for her birthday, like a doggy play-date.
